During your initial setup with ServiceWorks, you will need to enable your payment gateway to collect payment from your customers. It is an essential part of configuring your ServiceWorks account, as it allows you to process payments securely and efficiently.
There are several different payment gateways that ServiceWorks supports, so it is important to choose one that is right for your business. Some factors to consider when choosing a payment gateway include:
- The types of payments you want to accept: Some payment gateways only accept credit cards, while others also accept debit cards, PayPal, and other payment methods.
- The fees charged by the payment gateway: Payment gateways typically charge a fee for each transaction processed. It is important to compare the fees charged by different payment gateways to find one that fits your budget.
- The security features offered by the payment gateway: Security is an important consideration when choosing a payment gateway. Make sure to choose a gateway that offers strong security features to protect your customers’ data.
Once you have chosen a payment gateway, you will need to set it up. The process of setting up a payment gateway will vary depending on the gateway you choose. However, most gateways will require you to provide some basic information about your business, such as your name, address, and phone number. You may also need to create a merchant account, which is a special account that allows you to process payments.
In this blog, we’ll go over where to find the payment gateway setup within ServiceWorks and how to properly set them up.
Locating Your Payment Gateway
To begin, click on the cogwheel in the toolbar to open up the Configurations Tab and then navigate to Configuration -> Payment Gateway

In the payment gateway menu, you’ll see the currently supported payment gateways within the software. Click on your selected gateway and you’ll be presented with the following options:
Credit Card Processing Fee – Use this field to enable a card processing fee for purchases made through your selected gateway. You can also choose between a fixed card processing amount or a percentage

API Setup – In this section, you’ll enter your generated API key from your selected gateway. This key allows your payment gateway and ServiceWorks to properly communicate with each other. You can also enable (or disable) the option for your gateway to be able to take new payment transactions either via web or mobile app

Accepted Credit Card Types – Here you can decide which credit card types you wish to be accepted by your payment gateway

Zero Dollar Authorizations – And here you can decide which card types can be accepted for zero dollar authorizations

Once finished, be sure to click Save before moving on.
Additional Information
Now that you have setup and enabled your payment gateway, we recommend that you run a test payment for anywhere between $2-$3 to ensure that your gateway is working properly
