ServiceWorks – Drawing Your Zone

Here’s a walkthrough on how to properly enable zone selection on your instant booking page, allowing your customers to select the associated service area in which their address falls under.

Drawing Your Zone in Google Maps

To begin, visit https://www.google.com/mymaps and log in to your existing google account.

In the My Maps menu, click the Create New Map button

Next, center your map by entering your company location in the search bar

Once you’ve entered an address and a pin has been placed, zoom out until your entire area of coverage is visible

Now click on the Draw A Line button and select Add Line or Shape

Now you can begin to draw your zone using the Line tool. We recommend following the existing roadways when placing your outline for ease of use.

Once you complete connecting the beginning of your line to the end, you’ll be prompted to name your outlined zone

And you can also use the paint icon to add color coding to your zones

Repeat this process for the remainder of your zones

Once finished with your zones, take a screenshot of your zones like the example below. Be sure to save it somewhere easy to access as you will need it shortly:
(Shift + Windows Key + S for PC; CMD + Shift + 5 for Mac)

Once you’ve saved your screenshot, you will need to open it in a picture editing program (i.e.: Paint, Paintbrush) and add your zone labels. Be sure that these match the names of your zones within ServiceWorks (you may also be able to do this during the screen capture process)

Enabling Your Zone Selection In ServiceWorks

Now that your zones have been defined and labelled, its time to configure your file within ServiceWorks

Within the ServiceWorks software, click on the cogwheel icon in the toolbar to open the Configurations tab and navigate to Configuration -> Job Settings -> Instant Booking

Once in the Instant Booking screen, click the pencil icon to enter the Edit menu

In the edit menu, click on the Zone tab

Then scroll down to the Zone Image section and click the ‘+‘ button to add your recently edited zone map. Be sure to set your Enable Zone Restriction toggle to active, and save

Now that you’ve finished setting up and enabling the zone selection, your customers will now be able to select their respective zones when scheduling services through your instant booking page
