As you and your technicians use the ServiceWorks software, there may come a time where someone may need to request time off. But how would you do that and where would you see it? Here’s a brief overview of how to accomplish this using the ServiceWorks software.
Requesting Time Off
Note: Before you can use this feature, you must first ensure that the “Request Time Off” permission is enabled within the user’s specific role. Otherwise, some of these options will not appear in the desktop or mobile app version.
From The Desktop
Start by logging into your ServiceWorks account and then click the arrow next to your user profile picture. Once clicked select Request Time Off from the dropdown list that appears

Now, in the Time Off Detail screen, you’ll be able to view previously entered time off requests; including the ability to view requests within a specific date range.

In the upper right corner, you’ll have the option to export your list of time off requests or to add a new request

Clicking on the Add New Time Off button brings up a popup window where you can add your dates, times, and a reason for the aforementioned request. When finished, click Save

And once saved, you’ll see your pending time off request and its details listed beneath the search fields. The Edit link can be used to change or update any information on the associated request.

At this point, the request will remain pending until a user with the Admin role approves it.
From The Mobile App
To request time off via the ServiceWorks Pro app, start by logging in and opening the menu with the icon in the upper left corner. In the list that appears, tap on My Account

In the My Account menu, click My Time

In the My Time menu, you can view any previous requests or currently pending requests. To add a new request, tap on the Time Off tab.

Now you can enter the time, date, duration, and reason for your time off request

You can also designate whether the time off request is for vacation or personal reasons using the PTO Code section. Once complete, tap Apply

And now, your new request should appear within the history section until it has been reviewed.. You can also use the history section to track when requests are approved or denied.

Approving / Declining Time Off Requests
For admin users, you’ll need to know where and how to locate time off requests. Here’s how:
via Notification Menu
Start by logging into your ServiceWorks account and clicking the notification bell in the upper right corner

Whenever a new time off request is submitted, a notification will appear detailing who submitted the request, the time and date it was submitted, and the length of the time off request

Clicking on this request takes you directly to the approval menu. Here, you can either approve or deny the time off request with the option of leaving a remark.

via Configuration Tab
Alternatively, you can utilize the time off menu within the configuration tab to approve or deny requests. Start by clicking on the cogwheel in the upper right corner to open the Configuration tab, and then navigate to Admin -> Time Off

Here, you’ll be able to view all previous and current time off requests, export a list of requests, or submit new ones. These can be filtered by employee name, date, or current status.

By clicking the edit icon next to your desired request, a popup will appear where you can approve or deny, and leave a comment

Whenever a time off request has been accepted, the duration will appear blocked off on the schedule with the user’s associated color
