How to Backup Invoice and Estimate Templates

While using ServiceWorks, you may want to edit or reconfigure how your invoice and estimate templates look. But before you begin editing, you will need to keep in mind that the ServiceWorks software does not save a copy of your invoice or estimate templates.

So to ensure that your original templates remain intact while you work out your new edits, you’ll need to go through the process of creating a backup. Having backup files of invoice templates are important to ensure the preservation of important business data and to prevent the loss of important information in case of system failures or other unexpected events. Additionally, having a backup ensures that the business can continue to operate without any interruption, even in the event of an unexpected outage or other errors.

Here’s a tutorial on the process of creating backups for your invoice templates:

First, you’ll need to access your email template. Do so by going to Configuration -> Invoice Settings -> Invoice (This process can also be applied to estimate templates by navigating to Configuration -> Estimation Settings -> Estimation Template

From the invoice template view, click the Source on the upper left hand of the template.

This will turn your template into CSS/HTML code.

Highlight the code within the template using your mouse (or with CTRL + A) and then copy the code by right-clicking and selecting “Copy” from the pop-up menu (or with CTRL + C)

Now that you’ve got the source code copied to your computer’s clipboard, open up a new Notepad file, paste the copied information, and save it as something easy to remember.

Now you have a backup copy of your invoice templates for your personal records to copy and paste into your invoice template should you need it.

(Note: You will need to copy and paste the source code into a simple text editor such as Notepad. Using rich text editors such as Wordpad or Microsoft Word will distort the format within the source code upon pasting it into the program).
