Enforcing Model / Serial Numbers

Using the permissions within ServiceWorks, you can enable or disable the enforcement of serial numbers and model numbers for items in jobs and estimates.

To reach these permissions, log into your ServiceWorks account and click on the cogwheel in the toolbar to open the Configuration tab. Once opened, navigate to Admin > Permission

Now, in the permissions menu, set the first dropdown box to the user role you wish to edit permissions for and the second dropdown to Job. In our example, we’ll be editing these permissions for users with the Admin role

Extend the job column, then the Enforcement column. Nested beneath this, you should see several toggles for enforcing the model number or serial number for both trip completion and job completion.

When enabled, your technicians will not be able to mark a job as complete without first entering an item’s model or serial number, depending on which of these permissions you currently have active within your account.

Once completed with the permission changes, you may need to log out and back in (or have your users do so) in order to view the changes.
