Scanning Barcodes With ServiceWorks Mobile App

Did you know that you can use the camera on your phone to scan barcodes and add new items directly into ServiceWorks using the mobile app? Here’s a brief tutorial on how to access and utilize this incredibly useful function:

First, log into the ServiceWorks app and select an existing job or estimation. Once in the selected Job / Estimate, scroll down to the Product/Equipment section of the form and click on the arrow next to the inventory item

In the following screen, you can choose to add an item or a product to the ticket by pressing the ‘+’ button next to either the Products/Equipment or Item/Parts sections


Once you’ve selected either to add an Item or a Product, you’ll be met with one of the screens below. To scan in a barcode, click on the blue QR code button on the right side of the screen. (Note: you will have to allow the ServiceWorks app to access your camera in order to use the scanning feature)


Aim the camera at the barcode you wish to scan. When using it to scan in products, a prompt will appear asking if you want to save it as an Item Number, Serial Number, or Model Number. When scanning in an item, you will only have the ability to register the barcode as an item number.

When you’re done adding the information for your newly entered Item or Product, press ‘Save’
